2023 Week 3 Newsletter: 1/22/23 – 1/28/23
Hello Robotics parents and mentors,
Please look for the evite sent recently and let us know if you can come visit us on Saturday Feb 25th between 3-5 PM. This is a chance for you to see what your student has been working on, what the team is doing and to thank our sponsors and administration.
Coach Stout
This week marked the third week of Team 702’s build season, where once again a lot of progress was made on our robot build and season activities. We have continued strategizing for this year’s game, as well as award writing activities. We also sent our evite for our Sponsor and Community Event on February 25 from 3-5pm. We also have a new donate page on our website.
This week we started work on Sponsor and Community Event planning, finished proof of principle prototyping, painting of the field pieces, and started assembly of the drive base.
Next week’s goals are to start our robot build and continue work on planning the Sponsor and Community Event.
Mechanics
This week mechanics painted the field pieces for display at team events. Mechanics has also finished work on prototyping our arm, and grabber systems for the robot. Assembly of the drive base also began. Next week’s plans are to continue assembly of the drive base, and to start on construction of our mechanisms for the robot.
CAD
This week CAD continued to refine the designs for this year’s robot, as well as designing gifts for our sponsors and supporters for the Sponsor and Community Event. Next week’s plans are to assist Mechanics with the assembly of the robot.
Programming
This week programming, programmed our prototypes and integrated them onto our demo bot. Next week’s plans are to program the drive base of the robot once constructed, and continue mechanism testing.
Electronics
This week electronics rewired the demo bot and worked with pneumatics for our prototypes. Next week’s plans are to make the electronics board for the new robot.
Business
This week business edited our Impact Award essay submission, and started to plan for our Sponsor and Community Event, additionally to sending out the evites. Next week’s plans are to continue planning for the Sponsor and Community Event, and to start work on the video for the impact award.

- Monday: 3:30-9, team dinner (those who have dinner are expected to stay until 9)
- Wednesday: 1:30-9, team dinner (those who have dinner are expected to stay until 9)
- Thursday: 3:30-9, team dinner (those who have dinner are expected to stay until 9)
- Saturday: 10-6, team lunch
